Lots of potty training methods talk about stickers and reward charts and you might have noticed that our website features no downloadable rewards charts, none of our social media posts are about our favourite sources of stickers and there is a very good reason for that.
Yes your child might love any excuse to have their favourite snack, yes a sticker chart featuring their favourite cartoon character might catch their attention but resorting to using an external motivator like a sticker chart or snack is addressing the symptom and not the cause.

What a clever take on a training chart! This design uses popsicle sticks (you could also use straws or pipecleaners) for the track, then has a fun train that marks the start of the chart. You could then use stickers in the track gaps, or stick the chart on the fridge and add a magnet to the back of the train and move it along as your child progresses.

For #2 I began to notice my son had a fairly regular time of day he would go say 10 am ish. So I started putting him on the potty about 10-15 mins before and trying everything from sitting in the bathroom reading to letting him watch a show. And I basically just waited for it to happen. And we had a big celebration when it did. ?. Twice the reward too (two stickers or big marshmallows instead of a mini). And he caught on fairly quickly.

Decide what type suits you best. There's a treasure trove of charts on the internet. Some track specific milestones; others track dry days. Some have cartoon characters; others have animals, cars, and hearts/flowers. You can peruse our "best of" guide below and decide which chart suits your child's interests and meshes with your potty training strategy.Since many of these charts can be printed for free, you can try a few to see which one suits your needs. If they don't work, scrap them and move to another format. No harm done. 2ff7e9595c
